Your file never leaves your computer.

Most online converters upload your file to their server, work on it there and send the result back. Here the work happens inside the page you already have open: your browser reads the file, does the work and saves the result straight to your computer.

A bank statement or a customer list never sits on someone else's server, and a large file is just as quick on a slow connection, because nothing has to travel.

On your computer

  1. 1Your file

    Picked from your computer

  2. 2This page reads it

    Inside your browser tab

  3. 3The result

    Saved to your Downloads

On our server

Sends the page itself. Never receives your file.

Your file is opened, processed and saved on your computer. The server only delivers the page.

Check it yourself

Open your browser's developer tools (F12 on Windows, ⌥ ⌘ I on a Mac), choose the Network tab and use the file check above. No request carries your file. If you open an Excel file you'll see the page fetch its Excel reader: code coming in, not data going out.

Questions people ask first

Is it really free?

Yes. There's no trial, no sign-up and no paid version. You can use any tool as often as you like.

How is the site paid for?

Muhammad Yahya, who builds the site, works with clients around the world and kept seeing the same paperwork chores that businesses pay to have done. He built these tools on his own so anyone can do them for free, and he pays to keep the site running himself.

Do I need to install anything?

No. The tools run in any current browser, such as Chrome, Edge, Safari or Firefox, on a computer or a phone. Big spreadsheets are easier to work with on a computer.

What happens to my file when I close the page?

It was only ever on your computer. The page holds it in memory while you work, and closing the tab clears it. Anything you downloaded stays in your Downloads folder like any other file.

Can you build a tool I need?

Suggestions are welcome on the contact page. If the job is specific to your business, such as moving data between your own systems every day, that's custom automation work, which is also available.

Built by someone who automates paperwork for a living.

SmallBizDesk is made by Muhammad Yahya, a Python automation and backend developer who is Top Rated on Upwork. The tools cover the kind of work he automates for clients: messy files, long lists and data that has to end up as a finished document.

When a chore comes back every week, it can usually run on its own, without anyone opening a file. If your business is there, that's the work he takes on.
